About Calvert Home Schooling

Calvert School provides a time-tested and complete home school curriculum with two goals in mind: To inspire the best in your child and to make you the best home teacher and Learning Guide possible.

A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Since 1906, Calvert has educated more than 600,000 students from around the world with our time-tested curriculum. The Calvert program blends tradition, innovation, and technology to provide a rich subject-integrated experience designed to develop higher-order thinking skills.

We plan detailed, daily lessons in all major subjects, and our lessons are designed to appeal to all different learning styles. Calvert lessons are written using the best textbooks and workbooks available and our program is proven and assures you no gaps in instruction. In addition to our lessons, we support your home teaching with our comprehensive Placement Process, Calvert Education Counselors, and the Calvert Advisory Teaching Service.

Calvert Education Services is a nonprofit organization accredited by both the Commission on Elementary Schools, which is a division of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Commission on International and Transregional Accreditation (CITA).

We Want to Hear From You!

Through over 100 years of serving home schooling families, we have always valued the input we receive from our families. Many of the improvements in our program have come from parent suggestions. We welcome your comments by email, or by phone at either 888-487-4652 or 410-785-3400.

Letter from the PresidentJean Halle

Dear Families,

We recognize what your commitment to home schooling means; and that is why we continue to focus on Calvert’s longstanding mission to provide you with trusted curriculum and enabling support services that will help you inspire your children to realize their full potential. Through a blending of tradition, innovation, and technology, Calvert’s program employs the best instructional methods, supported by emerging cognitive research, to ensure your student acquires skill sets that are required in today’s 21st-century learning environment and tomorrow’s workplace.

Calvert’s commitment to you goes far beyond providing you with the best curriculum and online resources—we support you, the parent. We listen to and value your comments and suggestions, and most importantly we respond! This year we are happy to announce new science kits, a parent portal, skills workshops, and enhancements to our payment plans—all of which are in response to your helpful voices.

In addition parents have expressed an interest in Calvert increasing our “green” awareness. We believe a blended experience of on- and offline education is the most academically appropriate solution for students. One way we are going “green” this year is by publishing the answer keys online, helping us to keep our tuition increases low by reducing paper and printing costs. Delivering answer keys online in the parent portal also makes access more secure and allows us to update them easily and quickly, as suggested by parents’ inquiries.

I invite you to review our exciting new skills workshops. The pilot program was an overwhelming success, with grammar students achieving a 62% improvement after completing this four-week online course. Additional workshops in math, composition, and study skills will be offered throughout the next year.

Finally, be sure to visit our state resource pages where local families share their discoveries, and we can keep you up to date on Calvert Partners who serve your community.

To our returning families, it gives us no greater pleasure than to continue to work side by side with you, helping you realize your academic goals for your children. And to families new to Calvert School, welcome, and rest assured that we are here to listen to you, help you guide your children, and support you, every step of the way.
