Calvert's History Courses

Explore the world through engaging literature and lessons

Calvert School presents a broad selection of history courses designed to develop an understanding and appreciation of the importance of historical study.

  • Learn more about the state in which you live
  • Identify important figures in American history
  • Study mythology as a foundation for literature appreciation
  • See how history has influenced art and how art has influenced history

Calvert's history courses also include A Child's History of the World, the classic text written by Calvert School's first Head Master, Virgil Hillyer. A long-time home schooling favorite, A Child's History of the World conducts a general survey of world events from earliest times to present in a style reminiscent of a grandparent telling stories to a grandchild.
