Explore the world of scientific discovery through experimentation and activities. Your child’s knowledge of scientific concepts will be expanded and enhanced when you use this course. Our Discoveries in Science series features materials used in our grade-level Science curriculum. Additional experiments provided in the Discoveries in Science Lesson Manuals reinforce concepts already covered or serve as stand-alone activities.

Core Kit (Kindergarten through Eighth Grade)

This collection of materials combines science equipment with hands-on activities designed to develop scientific thinking and encourage curiosity in students. Your budding scientist will explore the scientific method, learn to form a hypothesis, conduct an experiment, monitor the variables, and record and interpret data.

The activities in this course are divided into four general areas of study: earth science, physical science, chemistry, and life science. Some activities span several of these topics. There are activities suitable for a basic level of knowledge, as well as for a more advanced student.

The kit includes a Lesson Manual with activities, goggles, hand lens, spring scale, graduated cylinder, funnel, dropper, magnets, two thermometers (F/C), modeling clay, rock and mineral kit, streak plate, and a colorful, laminated storage box.

Intermediate Kit (Fourth through Eighth Grades)

Recommended Grade Levels 

Continue your child’s journey in scientific exploration and the study of physical science. The activities in this course are divided into eight general topics: using a magnifying scope, identifying acids and bases, using machines to do work, using a compass, investigating sound, creating waves, investigating light, and generating electricity. Some activities span several of these topics.

The kit includes a Lesson Manual with activities, double concave lens, double convex lens, acid/base test paper, magnifying scope, slides and cover slips, prepared slides, prism, single pulley, double pulley, pulley cord, three color paddles, tuning fork, compass, D-cell battery holders, mini lamps, mini lamp holders, electrical switch, bell wire, slinky, and a colorful, laminated storage box.
