Seventh Grade Curriculum

Seventh Grade Homeschool Curriculum

Analyzing the Past and Developing Skills for the Future

Seventh Grade Homeschool CurriculumThe Seventh Grade Homeschool Curriculum allows students continue to build strong grammar and composition skills through descriptive and expository writing. The spelling program further incorporates grammar.

Math, Science,
and Technology

Seventh Grade Calvert Math emphasizes problem-solving steps. Advanced concepts such as variables, formulas, fractions, and statistics are introduced in our pre-algebra course.

The science program delves deeper into the life and physical sciences and introduces your child to the characteristics of living things, sound, light, motion, forces, and energy.

Your child will learn about networks, web researching and validation, desktop publishing, and databases in our comprehensive technology program.

Understanding the World Around Us

In addition to continuing courses in literature and poetry, your child will study geographic subjects such as thematic maps and the Eastern hemisphere. Your child also will discover the development of the modern world through history courses covering the fall of Rome to the Enlightenment.

More Hands-On Art

The art history course continues with the third volume of A Child’s History of Art: Architecture, and he or she will apply these lessons by designing his or her own structures in the art unit.

Calvert's Seventh Grade Course was easy to use and overall, excellent. Areas that need improvement are:

Spelling CD - The student is not able to skip ahead when they already know how to spell the given list of words.

Math - More help is needed via instructional videos and checkpoints that properly target what was learned.

Sentence Diagramming - more help is need via videos to demonstrate each new concept throughout the course.

Core manual linking to Tech. manual - Sometimes the composition assignment in the Core Manual didn't match the composition assignment in the Tech. manual. This was also the case with the online version of these manuals.

As always a very comprehensive curriculum. My 7th grade son had difficulty covering the amount of curriculum, but I feel that it gives a very well rounded education.
