Calvert provides Instructional Support options to meet the home schooling needs of your child and your family’s lifestyle.

Calvert Classic

Calvert Classic begins your home schooling journey, where you will use Calvert’s Lesson Manuals to provide the day-to-day instruction for your child. Work independently at a pace and schedule that fits your family’s lifestyle and needs. All the while with the assurance that Calvert’s support team is available to you when you need them. Calvert’s Education Counselors are on hand to assist by phone, online through Live Chat, or by e-mail.

Calvert Classic is the ideal instructional support option for home schooling families who seek to combine the greatest flexibility in their home school program with the highest standards inherent in the Calvert home school curriculum.

Calvert Classic features all the home school curriculum materials you need for a full year of instruction, including detailed plans in the Lesson Manuals, online academic resources, textbooks, workbooks, supplies, and online answer keys for daily work.

Calvert Classic with the Advisory Teaching Service

Calvert’s Advisory Teaching Service is designed to help you inspire the best in your child. Enrolling your child in Calvert’s optional Advisory Teaching Service enhances your educational experience with personal, constructive, and encouraging feedback for your child from a Calvert Advisory Teacher. The Advisory Teacher is your partner in home education, providing another supportive, instructional voice in your child’s education. As your partner, an Advisory Teacher helps boost your confidence and helps you stay on track as you progress through your course.

The Advisory Teaching Service not only provides evaluations of your child’s work, but motivation and support through a personal letter they receive from their Advisory Teacher with each set of corrected tests.

ATS Process & Features:

• Eight sets of tests, one in each subject area, are evaluated
• Students may include up to three daily assignments and a letter with specific questions
• Evaluations include detailed feedback on composition, mechanics, and processing skills
• Additional motivation and support for your child
• Online Grammar Review Videos (Grades 6 – 8)
• Read Alouds provide feedback on fluency, pronunciation, and expression (Grade 1 – 3)
• Online Grade Book
• A Certificate of Completion
• An official Transcript (available upon request)

NEW! Express ATS
A new, no additional ATS cost option, Express ATS allows students to submit their Calvert Advisory Teaching Service tests via e-mail and receive the results via e-mail, saving both time and postage. Available to ATS students in First through Eighth Grades.

Calvert Interactive with ATS (Calvert Academic Version only)

Enhance your child’s home school experience with Live Online Instruction and 21st Century Learning. Calvert Interactive is our premier online learning program featuring live classes taught by a Calvert Online Instructor for our Academic Sixth through Eighth Grade students.

Children enrolled in Calvert Interactive meet online for two live classes per week to cover math, grammar, reading, and composition. Calvert-provided technology allows the students to learn and interact in class, participate in assigned threaded discussions, complete group projects, conduct peer reviews online, and develop 21st Century collaborative skills that are important in today's academic setting (and tomorrow's workplace). In addition, enrollment in ATS Online, the online version of Calvert’s signature testing program, the Advisory Teaching Service, is included with Calvert Interactive.

Calvert Interactive includes everything in Calvert Classic and the Advisory Teaching Service, plus:

• Two live, 60-minute interactive classes per week
• Live classes cover math, grammar, reading, and composition
• ATS Online enrollment is included and provides modified online ATS tests with an improved turnaround time
• Students participate in threaded online discussions, peer reviews, and interactive group projects
• Pre-recorded online lectures, that are engaging and interactive, cover science, history, and geography (click to view demos)
• Progress is measured by a variety of projects, quizzes, and assignments that are suited to the environment.
• Class time and interactive assignments replace some of the work covered in the Lesson Manual
• Parents enjoy the extra support and reinforced home instruction provided by live classes led by Calvert Online Instructors, ATS service, and pre-recorded lessons

The Calvert Interactive Community

Your student is supported by a team of professional instructors as well as a peer group; all of whom are devoted to helping your child get the most out of his or her Calvert instructional experience. Groups of students meet in class sessions with Certified Calvert Online Instructors. Between classes, students work independently or in small groups on electronic projects that promote retention, assess master of curriculum material, encourage critical thinking, and develop technological skills.
