sound but unimaginative and dry
This will be our 4th year with Calvert and although I like the intensity of the course, one of my complaints is that it's unimaginative. I feel there was very little opportunity to step away from the textbook and apply a creative and exciting way for the student to show that she understands the material. I would like to see more suggestions for hands-on activities and ways to demonstrate or experience what's being taught other than being tethered to a textbook. Also,
I felt disappointed in the History because it was sooo Christian based. I was under the impression this was (and for the most part is) a secular curriculum. It would have been okay if they had other religious points of view so it would have been more well rounded and solid. I ended up scrambling mid-year for another history curriculum.
I LOVE the teachers though. They are very knowledgable and helpful but most of all, generous with their time. :)
