Why Calvert?

Why Home School with Calvert?

Inspired Planning. Inspired Teaching. Inspired Learning.boy_smile

Teaching your child at home can be one of the most rewarding experiences a family can have. Calvert supports you in your home schooling journey with over one hundred years of providing the best curriculum and support and one hundred years of continuous innovation.

Proven Effective

Calvert School takes great pride in knowing we have helped educate more than 600,000 children throughout the past century. Internationally recognized, our program features our fully accredited curriculum and textbook offerings from major educational publishers. If we cannot find textbooks that meet our standards, we develop our own. The Calvert Curriculum sets high and clear expectations that foster a culture of achievement.

A Comprehensive, Solid Foundation

Detailed Lesson Manuals give you the confidence that our home schooling curriculum will allow your child to realize his or her full potential. The Calvert program starts with a rich foundation of reading, writing, and arithmetic. That foundation is then layered with history, science, music, geography, and the arts to ensure no gaps in instruction. In all Calvert courses, you will find everything you need—textbooks, workbooks, and supplies—fully integrated and conveniently packaged.

An Enriching Experience

Our time-tested home school curriculum is built on the principle of subject integration. For instance, our Fifth Grade students study the Civil War in history. At the same time, they also interpret Walt Whitman’s poem “O Captain! My Captain!” about Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and draft a composition entitled “A Civil War Battle.” This reinforced study across subject areas develops higher order thinking skills and promotes content mastery.

Tailoring Options

We combine the tools and support you need to succeed with the flexibility you want to meet the personal needs and interests of your child. Lesson Manuals include instruction for engaging different learning styles. Through our placement process, you can tailor your child’s education by selecting either the Calvert Academic or Calvert Scholastic version of our curriculum and by choosing a different Calvert Math grade level.

Calvert School Academic Options

In addition, you may select from a menu of instructional support options: Calvert Classic, the Advisory Teaching Service, or Calvert Interactive. In addition to our full curriculum, we offer enrichment courses that can encourage an accelerated student, inspire an area of interest, or support a child in need of extra help.

Support for your Home Schooling Success

Calvert’s support team includes Placement Specialists, Education Counselors, Advisory Teachers, Online Instructors, Client Service Representatives, and Technology Support Specialists. The entire team is devoted to ensuring your Calvert experience meets our high standards from placement and enrollment to curriculum support and testing.
